Happy Birthday Card

Image
I had a blast making this birthday card! Image stamp is Paper Trey Ink's 'Turning a New Leaf.' Background stamp is Stampin Up's 'French Script.' The sentiment stamp is actually a mix of two Studio G stamps -- a wooden one and a clear one. I love the label on the new wooden stamp (as pictured), but I wanted the sentiment to be 'Happy Birthday,' so I inked the label portion of the one stamp, stamped the cardstock and trimmed. I then masked another Studio G stamp (a clear one) that had the sentiment surrounded by flourishes (which I didn't want). I masked with simple scotch tape). I then stamped the sentiment onto the cut-out label. I sewed the lace on and covered up messy sewing with a strip of patterned paper. I raised some of the leaves and the sentiment with foam squares (pop dots). Trim, jute, button, pearls and scrap paper are all from my stash. Cardstock base is Paper Trey Ink's 'Aqua Mist."

Printed my own photos tonight

Image
My honey agreed that buying a photo printer would be a great thing, so I ordered an HP Photosmart on Friday, it was delivered on Saturday, and I was able to play with it tonight. It took me forever to work with Photoshop Elements 5 -- yes, I've been putting it off. I finally figured out how to crop and print. LOL Once I printed the photos, the rest of the layout was a breeze. These are Lego Mechs my eldest, Aaron, made four years ago. The space that looks white is actually distressed grid paper from a free 2peas digital kit. It just doesn't show up in the scan.

My Recent Hybrid Layout

Image
This is one of my first hybrid projects. I used Ali Edwards' 8.5x11 hand-drawn grid and her photo overlay. You can buy these at www.designerdigitals.com. I also used her "today" brush from her Everyday Beauty kit. Stamps are Fontwerks "Travelogue" by Karen Russell (cs-926) and Technique Tuesday "Bits & Pieces" by Ali Edwards (AEBP). Paper is KI Memories "Color Theory - yellow." This was fun, but my Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 program encountered an error, so I Googled a solution and ended up having to rename a preferences file before I could stitch the two pages together to make one layout. ugh Did I mention we actually did language arts, math, science and history today? I also made a pot of chili, cleaned out the garage, and organized my Christmas ribbon. Can you say ready to relax? ha ha

Speaking of digital elements

I've Gone Hybrid!

Image
I finally made the plunge into the hybrid world! It started when I tried to stamp a Technique Tuesday stamp designed by Ali Edwards onto the following layout. Being acrylic, I couldn't get the long rectangle portion of the stamp to be straight. I really wanted to use this element, so I downloaded this file (which was on sale for $2.79 when I bought it), copied it into a MS Word document, and then printed it. Voila! Easy as pie. Supplies: paper (My Mind's Eye 'Bloom and Grow'), border punch (E K Success 'dotted wave'), foam alpha stickers (Dollar Tree), acrylic sticker (Joann's dollar spot) The other day Designer Digitals had this polka dot digital paper pack on sale for 25 cents. I just love dotted paper, so I bought it. This is the first time I printed out my own patterned paper. The results were perfect! Supplies: pink patterned paper (digital, Kattie Pertiet), other PP and diecut alphas (KI Memories), white alpha stickers (Doodlebug), border punch (Ma...

A Fun Layout

Image
This layout pairs two of my favorite products: stars and alphabet paper. Star paper (Die Cuts with a View "All Boys" stack), star diecuts (Sizzix), star border punch (Martha Stewart), alpha stickers (Dollar Tree).
